Should Big Tobacco start adopting the 30 kids who lose their moms to Tobacco daily? Why or why not?
No, they shouldn't. Smoking is a choice. Granted, people suffer for that choice by getting disease, by dying early, and with a lot of money because it is an expensive habit, but people make the choice to participate. Its the same with drinking; should Budweiser or Jack Daniels have to adopt children orphaned by the actions of drunk drivers because the jerk who drove drunk decided to misuse their products? No. Its like saying that if I pay for a health insurance plan, but I don't go to the doctor that often, should let people who are uninsured but need treatment more often than I do go to the doctor using my insurance. No, it doesn't work that way, it's my insurance and I will use it as I see fit. Just because someone else doesn't have it or use it the same way doesn't give anybody entitlement.I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!
